On Corfu island, we took the “Scenic Island & Flavors” excursion which stopped in Lakones; a small seaside town, a small restaurant with a great view, a monastery, a Koum Kouat distillery, and Corfu town.
In Dubrovnik, we went on the “Game of Thrones – Venture Through King’s Landing” excursion. It was led by a young man who had several appearances in the show as an extra, so he had actual “behind-the-scenes” knowledge.
We woke up early to get up on the upper deck to watch the approach into Kotor. The route weaved through the Bay of Kotor, past the Church of Our Lady of Ε krpjela and Saint George Catholic Monastery, built on their own tiny islands. We spent the day on a self-guided tour of Old Town.
We spent the day exploring Zadar’s old town. Taking in the old churches, Roman runes, and rich history, along with the modern additions of the Sea Organ and Greeting to the Sun.
We visited Rijecka, Croatia in 2024 as part of a Greek Island Cruise, celebrating Betsy’s 60th and Dani’s 40th birthdays.
We did a self-guided tour, exploring Trsat Fortress, their downtown area, and a retro computer museum.
In 2024, we visited Venice, Italy before embarking on a Greek Island Cruise.
We started the 2024 wine and chocolate tour at the Spring Hill winery. Since we were attending Saturday and Sunday, we stayed overnight at His Majesty’s Bed and Breakfast.
Lisbon, Portugal. Our fourth and final stop of our 2023 European Vacation. We stayed in the historic area with cobblestone streets and sidewalks and lots of hills! We saw lots of historic sites, sampled lots of delicious food and even enjoyed the beach!
We traveled from Paris to Barcelona, Spain via a 7-hour train ride. It was nice to relax, regroup and get our blog site a little updated.
Barcelona has some really amazing architecture. Their city blocks are all the same size and shape and are each a self-contained neighborhood.
We took the Eurostar high-speed train from London to Paris. The train ride was smooth, but we arrived at rush hour in Paris, which caused a bit of a rough start. A little bit of a fiasco with the apartment we were supposed to be staying in, but it all got straightened out.
